Yellowstone National Park - Attractions

There are many attractions to see and numerous things to do in YNP. Some of the activities include boating, bicycling, stage coach tours, horse back riding and even hiking. With the large number of attractions and activities available for quests its would take at least a month to visit and do everything. Some of the more popular events and attractions are below.

By Car

There are a few drives that are primarily done by car. Some of these drives may close even in the summer due to adverse conditions. The drives include the following:

By Foot

There are hundreds of hikes and bicycle trails within the park. The main tourist areas have board walks that create safe walking trails around the thermal areas. Other areas have marked trail heads for the start of hiking trails. Some major attractions like Old Faithful, Mammoth and the Grand Canyon have Ranger led walks as well.

Great Fountain Geyser erupts every 9-15 hours. A typical eruption can last up to 2 hours and can reach heights of up to 220 feet. (YNP - Great Fountain, 2014)
