Yellowstone National Park - About Us

Great Fountain Geyser
Great Fountain Geyser

Yellowstone National Park (YNP) offers a wealth of entertainment for the entire family year round with around 10,000 thermal features, over 300 geysers and 290 waterfalls to visit. There are 92 trailheads for hiking and more than 15 miles of boardwalks to wander around. Along with the thermal areas there are more than 67 different species of wildlife to watch for that includes bear, moose, bison and wolves.

Yellowstone National Park has 9 Visitor Centers and Museums that offer an excellent opportunity to learn about the park and its history. There is a marina that offers daytime outings and 2 stables that offer trail rides. One of the stables even offers a chuck wagon on one of the trail rides for a unique experience.

With all the water in the park everyone wants to go swimming or soak in a hotspring and YNP even offers that for visitors. There is one official swim area in a calm section of the FireHole River and 1 thermal area that visitors are able to soak in just outside of the Mammoth area.

There are less than 200 moose in Yellowstone National Park. The population has declined over the last 40 years due to the loss of old growth forests, predators and permitted hunting outside of the park. (YNP - Moose, 2014)
